How to be FCA authorised
In simple terms if your business conducts regulated activity, you will need FCA authorisation. This can apply to dentists, loss assessors, car dealers or asset finance providers. There are two ways to achieve this:
1. Become an appointed representative of Citrus Compliance
o Become an AR of an authorised Principal firm like Citrus.
o We take full responsibility and liability for your FCA compliance.
o The onboarding process takes on average 6-8 weeks with our support at every stage.
o This simpler option allows you to focus on your core activities.
o Build up knowledge and experience before attempting direct authorisation
o A quicker, more affordable, and less time-consuming option
o Citrus prepares, processes, and submits your application to the FCA.
2. Direct Authorisation
o Submit a detailed application to the FCA, which can take 6-12 months.
o Your business and key individuals are personally liable for compliance.
o This route involves significant ongoing costs and complexity.
o You will deal directly with the FCA
